During years with non-exceptional climate development the Brunello di Montalcino by Biondi Santi is downgraded to Rosso di Montalcino "Red Stripe". Thiswine is produced from grapes coming from vineyards that are over 10 years old, according to ancient "Greppo" traditions. It's a wine that is very close to Brunello, aged for 12 months in slavonian oak barrels, the same oak wood barrels used for Brunello. The difference between this wine and the Rosso di Montalcino "White Label" lies in its alcoholic strength and in its greater structure, that is very similar to Brunello di Montalcino. Therefore this wine has to be considered as an intermediate product in between Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino "Annata". |
