Extraordinary vintage in 1955. Excellent seasons' development, with a rainy spring and a dry summer. Wine Spectator included the Brunello di Montalcino Biondi Santi "Riserva 1955" among the very best dozen wines of the 20th century, the only italian wine selected. This wine is a boast for both the "Greppo" estate and the national italian wine production. The cork has been substituted in 1978 and in June 2000. There's a slight crust of natural insoluble dyestuff at the bottom.

| Notes for best tasting |
| Rise the bottle in vertical position at least one week before tasting, in order to concentrate the ev. crust of natural insoluble dyestuff at the bottom. The bottles with a strongly marked "picure" are excellent. Uncork and unfill the top of the bottle at least 8 hours before tasting. To pour the wine slope the bottle with an adequate basket. |
